Fundamentalism + belligerence = disturbing Youtube videos

This Fundie preacher apparently forgot 2 Timothy 2:24-25: "the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to everyone, an apt teacher, patient, correcting opponents with gentleness"

Utterly shocking. How should theologians best seek to respond to this kind of perversion of Christian behaviour?

This reminds me of something I heard Marcus Borg once say. Paraphrasing: "the dominant conception in North America of what it means to be born again is to become an asshole."

Man that was really disturbing. It's strange but I haven't wanted to watch someone get beat down in quite a while but after viewing a number of those videos I really wanted to. Crazy.

I wonder if anyone has put up any videos against him?

I simply wanted to ask him:

"What's you're hermeneutic?"

To which he would likely respond:

"...herme-What?"

(Bible scholars;)

"How should theologians best respond?" Preferably with a running drop-kick. Or, failing that, a sharp blow to the back of the head could also work.

Honestly, though, if it was me, I probably would have responded: "Do you know where the Book of Dickhead is in the Bible? Old Testament or New?"

I think he has succeeded in convincing me to convert to atheism

"Well...at least we look cute!"

Perhaps the best line of the video.

What I found as humorous in the whole thing was the fact that he asks the guy where the book of "Hezekiah" was. THERE IS NO BOOK OF HEZEKIAH "bible scholar"!

I don't understand why people think that "passion" should reign over true knowledge and education of the Bible. I know an independent Baptist preacher who dropped out of Bible school because he said that "Jesus could come back" and he needed to be "preaching the gospel". He is now well in his sixties, Jesus hasn't returned, and he is just as ignorant as ever in actually understanding what the Bible is all about. The commandment in Deuteronomy 6 is to love the LORD with all your heart (the Jew understood this to be with all your intellect and emotion). Faith is not just some blind leap. I believe someone who trains their mind and studies is one who understands what it means to be a true disciple. (I must digress or else I will rant for a while, that guy just frustrates me to no end).

Jesus was about the kingdom, not getting people "saved" from hell. This guy in this video is a looney-toon and as much as the mormons may be wrong, he too is preaching a false gospel. Okay I'm done now.

Sad, indeed. The gospel is offensive enough; why do we insist on adding to it?

The words that escaped my lips are not fit for print here. Good thing my kids aren't around!

Unfortunately I've met many assholes like this over the years. If I were there I'd probably come to the defense of the Mormons. But my own sad history is that I once went to the opening of a Mormon temple in Toronto and when their evangelists descended on our group we were having a healthy discussion until the one guy told me he used to be a Baptist. Unfortunately two elders dragged me out of there - as I unleashed my inner asshole on this poor guy. Shameful I know, but I think that is all the more reason why I'd express my repentance by defending the Mormons there.

I agree with Halden. What the heck is wrong with jeans???

Sadly I've seen this many times in person. I've been in Salt Lake City, UT when they actually come out with bull-horns and hold giant signs during their General Conference. I hope, however, that this doesn't make people become jerks to any/all street preachers. Thankfully they're not all this bad

Oooohhh. The guy pulled a "chick tract" out - I love ripping those things up into little tiny pieces whenever I get a chance.
