To be sung to the tune of ‘Shine, Jesus Shine’

Part of the Song the angel Yahoel taught Abraham according to the Pseudepigraphal Apocalypse of Abraham.

"Eternal, Mighty, Holy El, God only-supreme'
You who are the Self-originated,
the Beginningless One, Incorruptible, Spotless, Uncreated,
Immaculate, Immortal, Self-complete,
Self-illuminating, without father, without mother,
unbegotten, exalted, Fiery One!
Lover of men, Benevolent One, Bountiful One,
Jealous over me, and very compassionate,
Eli, My God, Eternal, Jehovah Zebaioth,
Very Glorious El, El, El, El, Jah El!"

To will be added to my Winds of Worship song collection CD.

Chris,

I love the words (except for the sexism in line 7 - surely the translation should be "lover of humankind", or "lover of all" if you need it to scan) but how do you sing it to "Shine, Jesus, shine?" I've been trying for ages (well, three minutes, anyway)and I can't even get the first line to fit. Clearly, also, it's meant to be accompanied by a pipe organ because you'd never get your tongue around those words if it were sung at worship band speed. Is this your attempt at cross-generational contemporary Christian music?

I'm also having a hard time fitting it to "Shine, Jesus, Shine."

I don't see the problem. It fits like a hand in well fitted glove.

Do you both perhaps have sin in your lives?

As for the "cross-generational contemporary Christian music" thing, yea, why not. Sounds clever. Your sexism point is well taken. I'll bear that in mind in the following posts (MWHAHAHAHahhaha)

This lyric doesn't seem to be a parody, Chris, unlike your previous compositions for Wind of Worship. Or maybe your commenters are somehow missing the joke.

Except for the "Shine Jesus Shine" part. I must have sin in my life, too. (And undoubtedly, I do.)

p.s. Was the title of the CD inspired by the Spinal Tap disc, "Breaking like the wind"?

You said it!

Thanks for the smile!
